DESCRIPTION: Aval uppuma is really the wonderful dish for Indian Breakfast! This dish can satisfy someone as a snack anytime of the day.

Ingredients


Urad
mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Chana dal - 2 tsp
Onion - 1
Ginger - 5 gms
Pooha (Aval) - 750 gms
2-3 tablespoon of Peanuts
Jeera - 1 tsp
Chilli powder - 4 tsp
Green chillies - 2
Salt
Coriander leaves
Curry leaves
Lemon juice - from 1 fruit
shredded coconut - 2 cups
Turmeric powder - 2 tsp

Preparation


Soak 200 g of aval in water for 1/2 hour.

Heat 4 tsp of oil in a pan,

add 1/2 tsp mustard seeds.

Once it splutter,add jeera,onion,little hing,green chillies & curry leaves.

add 1 tsp urud dal, 1/2 tsp whole black peppers and peanuts

Fry till onion becomes transparent in colour.

Add the turmeric powder and salt.

Saute for 2 mins.

Add the Aval/Poha/rice flakes and mix well.

Keep on low fame, until water gets absorbed.

Garnish with grated coconut.

Serve hot with chutney.

Can add a pinch of coriander powder.
