Aval Upma or Kanda Poha recipe is one of the healthy and easiest South Indian Breakfast recipes using rice flakes or flattened rice or parched rice. Poha or Aval is used for making various dishes that are most commonly eaten for breakfast or snack Poha or Aval is used in Kheer as well. Aval Upma goes well with plain yogurt or with a cup of tea or coffee.
Aval Upma can be prepared in just 20 mins.

Aval Upma

 1.50 cups Poha / Aval / Beaten Rice / Avalakki
 0.50 tsp Sounf / Fennel Seeds
 2 tbsp Oil
 2 tbsp Peanuts
 1 tsp Mustard
 1 tsp Cumin / Jeera
 1 pinch Hing / Asafoetida
 5 qts Curry Leaves
 1 qt Onion, finely chopped
 1 qt Tomato, finely chopped
 2 qts Chilli, finely chopped
 0.25 tsp Turmeric
 0.25 tsp Chilli powder
 2 tbsp Coriander, finely chopped
 2 tsp Lemon juice

Add haldi, 1 TSP spoon lime juice and ¾ tsp salt on soaked poha and mix gently.(you can add 1tsp sugar here if you like sweet poha)

Heat 2 tbsp oil in kadai, and splutter 1 tsp mustard, 1 tsp cumin, 1/2 TSP Saunf pinch hing and few curry leaves and peanuts.

Add 1 onion, 2 chilli and saute well till transparent. Then add tomatoes and salt , haldi n chilli powder and saute well

Add in soaked poha and mix gently until everything is combined well.

Cover and simmer for 5 minutes.

Add coriander leaves and 1 tsp lemon juice and enjoy kanda poha
