This Diwali, people who are planning to travel would drill a deeper hole in your pocket. Most of the private bus operators have raised their fares by 40 to 60 per cent this festive season. The reason provided is “huge demand for their air-conditioned coaches”. Fueling the rates are skyward air fares and choc-a-bloc trains forcing many to opt for buses to travel home.
Stating from 15th October, Hyderabad – Bangalore trip will cost Rs 1,200 which otherwise costs Rs 700. Where as Hyderabad-Mumbai trip will cost Rs 2,000 which otherwise costs Rs 850 , says an official of a travel agency.
Raj Travels is also planning to increase bus fare from October 15. Hyderabad to Mumbai from Rs 840 to Rs 1,260, informs MA Saleem, assistant manager, Raj Travels. He says it is the first time they are experiencing such a heavy rush.
