Sunhri Sindh 2.0, From May 1st to 4th, 2025, transformed Upvan Lake, Thane, into a living, breathing celebration of Sindhi history, art, music, food, and faith. After the resounding success of the first Suhini Sindh in 2015, this second edition returned with grandeur — bigger, brighter, and more emotionally powerful.

This four-day cultural fair wasn’t just an event; it was a movement—to preserve, promote, and proudly present the 5,000-year-old legacy of Sindh to the world. It invited global Sindhi communities, cultural enthusiasts, and artists to come together under one vibrant roof of tradition, emotion, and unity.

🚌 A Journey of Togetherness – Our Community Visit on May 3, 2025

Behind every successful community experience are the unsung heroes who make it happen. A few spirited members of our Sindhi community voluntarily (Pooja Godhiaji, Aarti Jethmalani and Jyoti Gangwani and Team) stepped forward to organise a group visit on May 3, 2025. What began as a simple plan for one AC bus turned into a caravan of three fully-booked buses, thanks to an overwhelming response from our enthusiastic members!

Everything was meticulously arranged — from cool air-conditioned buses to snacks, soft drinks, and water to beat the summer heat. It was not just a trip; it was a well-planned cultural picnic filled with joy and excitement.

We gathered at Varahi Mata Temple at sharp 3:00 PM. With happy faces and excited chatter, our journey to Upvan Lake began. We reached around 5:30 PM, completed the registrations, and dove straight into the magical world of Sunhri Sindh 2.0.

🏛️ Reliving History – Powerful Installations That Stirred the Soul

🔸 Before the Pyramids, There Was Sindh!
A life-size recreation of Mohenjo-Daro took us 5,000 years back into the roots of civilisation. Walking through the Great Bath, narrow lanes, and mud houses, we witnessed the brilliance of a society that once led the world in planning, trade, and culture.

🔸 The Partition Train – A Haunting Memory
A 3D replica train told the emotional story of Partition — a time when countless Sindhi families were uprooted forever. As we walked through the setup, the air turned heavy with grief, nostalgia, and silent tears. This wasn’t just an exhibit — it was our collective memory, carved in pain and resilience.

🔸 Hemu Kalani’s Jail – Bravery Beyond Age
The life-size jail model of Hemu Kalani showcased the final moments of the 19-year-old martyr. As we witnessed the heart-wrenching goodbye between him and his parents, we were reminded that Sindhi blood has always run brave.

🔸 Saint Kanwaram’s Miracle – Faith that Heals
The divine setup recreated the moment Saint Kanwaram’s lullaby revived a lifeless child. This section also paid homage to spiritual legends like Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, Sachal Sarmast, and Saami, proving that Sindh isn’t just a land — it’s a spiritual force.

🔸 Sindhi Poets and Writers
Sindhi literature has been enriched by the timeless contributions of poets and writers who have beautifully captured the soul of Sindh. Luminaries like Mirza Kalich Beg, Sheikh Ayaz, Dr. Ram Panjwani, A.J. Uttam, Lekhraj Aziz, Gobind Malhi and Dr. Kanhaiyalal Lekhwani have preserved the language, culture, and philosophy of Sindhi life through their powerful words. Their legacy continues to inspire generations and remains a proud pillar of Sindhi identity.

🎖️Achiever’s Awards and Dignities

As a heartfelt gesture of respect and appreciation, the organisers presented the prestigious Achievers Award to several distinguished individuals and esteemed dignitaries who have devoted themselves to the upliftment and progress of the Sindhi community. Among the honourees were Member of Parliament Shankar Lalwani, MLA Vasudev Acharya, and prominent community figures such as Dadi Veena Bhatia, Gurmukh Jagwani, Ladharam Nagwani, Ajeet Maniyal, Barkha Khushalani, Narayan Bablani, Raju Manwani, Dada Murli Adnani, Ram Jawhrani, Shobha Malhi Chandnani, Simran Ahuja, Kajal Ramchandani, Shobha Lalchandani, and Roshini Tolani—each celebrated for their outstanding contributions in cultural, social, or philanthropic spheres.

🔱 A Divine Moment – Maha Aarti for Sai Jhulelal

For the first time ever, a grand Maha Aarti dedicated to Ishtdev Sai Jhulelal united thousands under one sky. With diyas illuminating the night and “Ayo Lal Jhulelal” echoing across Upvan Lake, it was a truly spiritual and historic moment — one that filled every heart with pride and every eye with devotion.

🎉 Sindhi Culture in Full Glory

We immersed ourselves in Sindhi festivals like Cheti Chand, Lal Loi, and Teejri — all brought to life with traditional dances, storytelling, and vibrant Ajrak displays.

The fair was also a tribute to Sindhi craftsmanship — Ajrak, Sindhi topis, mirror-embroidered dresses, and artifacts reflected the soul of our community. And let’s not forget the live performances, folk music, and stories of Sindhi icons who’ve risen as entrepreneurs, artists, and leaders across the globe.

Live performances added vibrant energy to the event, featuring a captivating dance by Sindhu Sakha Sangam, soulful singing by Manushree Assudani, Lavi Bhagat, and the talented Tekwani family — Ragini ji, Roshini, Renu, and Anand — along with a memorable performance by Kamlesh Kapoor.

🥗 Sindhi Food

No Sindhi celebration is complete without its rich and comforting cuisine! At Sunhri Sindh 2.0, the food stalls were a feast for the senses, offering a delightful spread of traditional favourites. From the soulful Sai Bhaji and crispy Dal Pakkan to the tangy Sindhi Kadhi – Chawal, every bite told a story of heritage. Guests also relished snacks like Allu Tuk, Butter Papdi, spicy Chola Pattice/Samosa, crunchy kheecha Papad, and a variety of homemade Aachars. To end on a sweet note, the refreshing and indulgent Sindhi Falooda, sev barfi, piss (Kharvas) everyone craving more. Truly, the flavours of Sindh added warmth and nostalgia to the celebration!

💛 More Than a Fair – A Festival of Identity, Emotion & Unity

Sunhri Sindh 2.0 wasn’t just about looking back. It was about reminding ourselves of who we are, celebrating the journey of a community that lost everything in 1947, yet rebuilt itself globally with strength, love, and hard work.

From elders reliving their roots to children learning about their ancestors, every attendee walked away feeling deeply connected and profoundly proud to be a Sindhi.

🙏 Vote of Thanks
