On 10th August 2025, the Bhartiya Sindhu Sabha (North Zone), covering Dahisar to Goregaon, hosted its annual Raksha Bandhan Utsav along with a felicitation ceremony for meritorious students of the Sindhi community. The event took place at Kambar Darbar, Kandivali West, Mumbai, where community members, students, parents, and dignitaries enthusiastically participated.
Celebration of Raksha Bandhan and Academic Excellence
The programme was inaugurated with a warm welcome by Shri Gangaram Jhamnani, President of BSS North Zone, who congratulated students for their outstanding achievements in SSC and HSC exams. He emphasised the importance of preserving the Sindhi language and culture, urging families to encourage their children to speak Sindhi at home.
A total of 37 students were felicitated, 26 from SSC and 11 from HSC, who secured more than 65% marks in their first attempt. The felicitation recognised not just academic performance but also the resilience and dedication of young Sindhi students.
Guests Who Inspired
Several esteemed dignitaries graced the event:
- Shri Mayuresh Jaisinghani (Director, Royalecollections Pvt Ltd) – Chief Guest, who motivated students to work hard, reminding them of the community’s legacy of resilience post-Partition in 1947.
- Smt. Jyoti Prakash Chhabria, Guest of Honour, is a noted social worker and philanthropist who applauds the role of parents in their children’s success.
- Shri Manthan Bachani – Awardee of Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar 2025, honoured for his poetry collection Pandhiaro.
Several trustees and representatives of Sindhi associations from Malad, Kandivali, and Dahisar also joined, further strengthening the spirit of unity.
Cultural Performances and Community Spirit
The programme featured a short cultural presentation choreographed by Hanisha Gaba, showcasing the artistic talent of Sindhi youth. The event beautifully blended tradition, education, and celebration.
The Sabha also acknowledged the contributions of Lajwanti Manilal Godhia Foundation and Kewalram Chanrai Foundation, whose generous support made the programme possible.
A Day of Gratitude and Pride
The event concluded with Lal Sai Pallav and the National Anthem, filling the hall with pride and unity. CA Haresh Godhia, General Secretary of BSS North Zone, highlighted the Sabha’s continuous efforts—from cultural gatherings to Sindhu Darshan tours—and invited youth to take an active part in keeping Sindhi heritage alive.
